Derek is passionate about people, their learning and development and helping them to realise their full potential in both their personal and working lives. He recognises that trust is the glue which facilitates organisational success and so works to engender that trust, remove barriers and create an empowered and innovative workforce at all levels.

He is a specialist in Change Management and has applied extensive personal and management development skills, entrepreneurial vigour and management expertise through top down and bottom up processes to a variety of industry sectors. He is expert in the application and development of Emotional Intelligence within individuals, teams and organisations. Derek applies active skills in leadership, executive coaching/mentoring/ facilitation, change management, general management and learning & development activities  to provide the vision, strategy and environment within which people are free to innovate and create.

Experience

Following 20 years experience as a Royal Navy officer operating helicopters both ashore and at sea around the world, and with staff and ship command experience, Derek now applies his adapted military leadership skills across the whole spectrum of management from supervisory and junior levels to Executive Board members. He provides an integrated approach through coaching, mentoring, learning & development and consulting to business performance acceleration at all levels with particular emphasis on the differentiators of success within individuals, teams and organisations in the private and public sectors.

Personal

Derek met and married Jill whilst both were serving in the Royal Navy where he had a varied career operating helicopters from frigates, destroyers, aircraft carriers and ashore around the world. He completed the Royal Naval Staff Course, had two staff officer jobs and commanded a ship. He and Jill now lead rather more conventional lives in beautiful Hampshire. Derek is a Hampshire Ambassador.
